Silverback Strategies is a performance marketing agency built to help marketing leaders drive growth and capitalize on change. Today, we’re looking to add an all-star Associate Director of SEO to our growing team.

Role Overview

The Associate Director of SEO will act as the second-in-command to the SEO department head (Senior Director of SEO) and will work closely with the Senior Director to coach and manage an industry-best team.

We’re looking for someone who is:

• Experienced in Content Strategy to modernize our Content product and processes.

What You’ll Do

• Leadership: Partner with the Senior Director of SEO to set direction, priorities, and standards.
• Coaching & People Management: Manage and support an organic search team, including oversight of 1–3 SEO Account Managers.
• Client Ownership: Own a portfolio of 2-3 key organic search clients, leading day-to-day strategy and relationship management.
• Content-Focused: Use your content background to streamline Silverback’s Content product and processes.
• SEO Product Innovation: Collaborate with the Senior Director on SEO product innovation.
• SEO Process Automation: Implement efficiency improvements by identifying automation opportunities.
• Well-Rounded Marketing Expertise: Flex broader marketing skills to understand clients’ marketing strategies.
• Focus on Impact: Tie work back to revenue and business impact for clients.
• AIO / GEO Enablement: Drive the agency’s approach to AIO / GEO.
• Initiative & Ownership: Be a self-motivated leader who pushes work forward.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with internal teams to bring strategies for multi-service clients to life.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

• Agency Background: Previous experience at a performance marketing agency is required.
• Years of Experience: At least 4 years of marketing experience.
• People Management Experience: At least 1 year managing, coaching, and developing talent.
• Deep Content Expertise: Proven leadership in content strategy for SEO.
• AI Search Testing & Optimization: Hands-on experience optimizing for AI search.
• Client-Facing Comfortability: Comfort in building rapport with clients.
• “Get Sh*t Done” Mentality: Thrives in dynamic environments.
• Independence & Reliability: Pride in producing results independently.
• Business Acumen: Ability to tie SEO wins to measurable impact.
