JOB PROFILE: LEAD PASTOR

THE MINISTRY OF IMAGE CHURCH
Mission: We exist to help people discover and deepen a relationship with Jesus.

Image Church is an authentic, gospel-centered body of believers (~125 members) located in Marietta, Georgia. We are a community defined not by hype, but by a deep commitment to the Bible and biblical community. We believe the church is a family that lives out the gospel together.

We prioritize four key rhythms for our members, and we are looking for a pastor who models them:

1. Involvement in the life of the church.
2. Connection to a Group.
3. Commitment to personal devotion.
4. Engagement in making disciples.

THE OPPORTUNITY
The Lead Pastor will serve as the primary spiritual shepherd and visionary leader of Image Church. We are seeking a humble, relational leader who can balance the weight of the pulpit with the care of the flock. You will work in close collaboration with the lay elders to guard the doctrine of the church and guide the congregation into a new season of growth and missional engagement.

Key Responsibilities
1. Preaching & Teaching

• Serve as the primary communicator, delivering gospel-centered, expository sermons that are accessible yet marked by theological depth and clarity.
• Foster a culture where the congregation grows in both theology and missiology.

2. Vision & Leadership

• Vision Casting: Clarify and champion the mission of Image Church, inspiring the body to move outward in evangelism and inward in discipleship.
• Staff Leadership: Recruit, develop, and lead paid staff and key volunteer leaders.
• Elder Collaboration: Serve as a “first among equals,” leading the elder board with humility and a collaborative spirit.

3. Shepherd & Care

• Model a relational leadership style; be present in the community and accessible to the members.
• Provide oversight for assimilation, ensuring guests are welcomed and effectively integrated into the life of the church.

4. Organizational Oversight

• Financial Stewardship: Provide oversight of Image Church’s financial management and budget in partnership with the elders/finance team.
• Facility Stewardship: Oversee the management and stewardship of the church’s physical resources.

THE CANDIDATE PROFILE
Our Search Team has established the following objective criteria for our next Lead Pastor:

Education & Doctrine

• Seminary Degree Required: The candidate must possess a formal theological education (M.Div or equivalent preferred).
  Theological Alignment: Must fully affirm the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
• Preaching Style: Must demonstrate a track record of preaching that is biblically rooted, gospel-centered, and compelling.

Experience & Competency

• Leadership History: Proven years of experience in lead ministry roles. We are looking for someone who has “done it before” regarding leading teams and managing ministry complexities.
• Operational Strength: Demonstrated ability in staff leadership, budget oversight, and organizational management.
• Cultural Fit: A leader who aligns with our vision and has the ability to connect with the specific demographic of Marietta and our existing congregation.
