Job Title: NDT Inspector

Job Description

A large manufacturer of pipes, valves, and flanges has an immediate opening for an NDT Inspector. The role primarily involves using NDT methods to quality check finished welds on pipe joints and other fabricated materials. The inspector will spend 80% of their time using Magnetic Particle (MT) testing on completed welds, and the remaining 20% checking weld bevels. There may also be opportunities to use Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) and Liquid Penetrant (LP) testing. Additionally, the position requires generating NCR reports and other documentation to upload to the ERP system. This is a contract role.

Responsibilities

• Perform NDT methods to ensure quality control of finished welds on pipe joints and fabricated materials.
• Utilize Magnetic Particle (MT) testing predominantly, and occasionally employ UT thickness and Liquid Penetrant (LP) testing.
• Check weld bevels for quality assurance.
• Generate NCR reports and manage documentation within the ERP system.

Required Skills

• 5+ years NDT inspection experience.
• Level 2 certification in Magnetic Particle testing (MT), Ultrasonic Thickness testing (UT), and Liquid Penetrant testing (LP).
• Quality control experience in a manufacturing setting.
• Proficient in documentation and report generation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications (Not required)

• Extensive NDT experience.
• Extensive QC experience in a weld shop or machine shop.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).

Work Environment

The work takes place in a large, older manufacturing shop that has been renovated, featuring shipping and receiving areas as well as a large machining shop equipped with overhead cranes and jib cranes at every station due to the size of the parts.

The shop is open-air and non-climate controlled, but large fans help circulate air. The position is near the machine shop and weld shop, both of which are diverse environments.

Safety gear includes steel-toed boots, jeans, work shirts, and safety glasses.

1st Shift from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm , with possible adjustments to an 8:00 am start, averaging 40-45 hours per week.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX 77033.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $29.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Houston,TX 77033.
