What To Expect
As a Project Development Engineer, you will serve as a key technical member of a pre-construction team. Your primary focus will be evaluating and implementing strategies for battery energy storage, solar, and microgrid projects utilizing Tesla technology. You will manage the technical development of diverse project portfolios, oversee engineering activities to minimize risks, and handle a mix of large-scale utility projects alongside smaller, customized initiatives. The Energy Projects team is a cross-functional group responsible for the engineering and execution of solar and storage projects. This includes development, design, analysis, project management, estimation, construction, and commissioning. Positioned centrally within business development, Tesla technology, and project deployment across the Americas, team members drive success across a wide range of applications.

What You'll Do Own project development and execution for Tesla EPC projects, defining scope, responsibilities, and BOP specifications with Tesla products Deliver technical support for proposals including custom drawings, diagrams, layouts, specifications reviews Identify and communicate scope gaps, risks, and mitigation strategies; drawing on engineering, construction, interconnection, and permitting knowledge Assess project sites, advance interconnection studies, and pursue permitting as needed
What You'll Bring Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent in experience2+ years’ experience in design & construction of power generation projects, emphasizing MV/HV substations (experience in utility-scale PV or battery storage preferred) Expertise in electrical engineering, including power, controls, communications, fire protection, engineering calculations, CAD drafting & design, standards and code compliance Skills in contracting: identifying and negotiating terms, developing scopes and division of responsibility docs Strong written and verbal communications, and ability to provide technical guidance Experience in fast-paced organizations with ability to prioritize multiple projects or tasks
