Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Rigger to set up, inspect, and repair rigging both in the shop and on site with minimal supervision. This role involves aligning and anchoring machinery, attaching loads, controlling heavy‑equipment movement, and ensuring all rigging plans are safe before execution. The Rigger will also support other trades in removing equipment and structural components using chain falls, cranes, shackles, and slings.

Responsibilities

• Set up, inspect, and repair rigging with minimal supervision.
• Align and anchor machinery safely and accurately.
• Attach loads and control movement of heavy equipment.
• Verify rigging plans and ensure safe execution.
• Assist other trades with equipment and component removal.
• Carry, inspect, and properly store chain falls, wire rope pennants, and slings.
• Determine load weight and center of gravity.
• Select correct rigging gear for each task.
• Use complex multipoint suspension techniques to maneuver loads, including lifts from 50–70 ft.

Essential Skills

• Advanced knowledge of wire rope pennants, slings, and rigging inspection.
• Ability to determine load weight and center of gravity.
• Proficiency with chain falls, lifting equipment, and rigging hardware.
• Experience rigging in shipyard or similar industrial environments.
• Understanding of complex multipoint suspension systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in shipyard, Navy, or ship repair environments.
• Familiarity with hand tools, hoists, beam clamps, winches, and slings.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work 10‑hour shifts regularly.

Work Environment

This role is based in a shipyard environment and requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including rain, snow, and sunshine. Expect physically demanding tasks and frequent 10‑hour shifts, with strict adherence to safety protocols.

This is a Contract position based out of Bremerton, WA.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
