EPIC Analyst II

This is a Direct Hire with hybrid onsite requirements.

Scope

  • Plays a key role in the development, support, and rollout of the Epic Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Responsible for helping optimize workflow processes by configuring and customizing Epic applications that meet the specific needs of the organization.
  • Collaborates with clinical and operational teams to support the implementation and ongoing use of Epic across the health system, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Participates in all phases of the system development life cycle, including gathering requirements, developing use cases, and evaluating software solutions.
  • Brings relevant topics to discussions/meetings. Speaks to system settings and tasks.
  • Develops, configures, and modifies moderately complex information systems to support clinical and operational needs.
  • Creates and maintains documentation of business requirements, workflows (current and future state), and system configurations.
  • Designs, codes/configures, tests, and maintains application programs.
  • Coordinates all testing phases of Epic applications during implementations, upgrades, and optimizations.
  • Supports existing application functionality and expand support to additional areas as needed.
  • Develops strong working relationships with end users, business partners, and Epic project teams to ensure optimal system usage.
  • Utilizes Epic best practices to ensure system build meets organizational standards and workflows.
  • Provides hands-on training and support to end users.
  • Serves as a key onsite Epic resource during system implementations and ongoing support activities.
  • Lead and facilitate team activities related to IT and clinical/business systems.
  • Provides second-level support for incidents and requests related to the Epic application.
  • Serves as project lead for Epic software releases and new application implementations.
  • Participates in on-call support as needed for system troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Leads and monitors application testing and validation during system upgrades or new module implementations.
  • Provides input into policies, procedures, training materials, and best practices related to Epic usage and system optimization.
  • Collaborates with facility core team members to deliver hands-on training as needed.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with end users and facility leadership (physicians, nurses, revenue cycle, health information management, etc.).

Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent years of experience is required.
  • 3-5 years of relevant IIS, clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Epic Certification: Certification in one or more Epic modules (e.g., EpicCare Ambulatory, Willow, Orders) is highly desirable. For internal candidates, obtaining the necessary Epic certification(s) will be an essential part of the onboarding and transition process, with full support provided to ensure successful completion.
  • For IIS candidates: Experience in systems integration, data management, healthcare IT, and workflow automation. Knowledge of system architecture, database design, and project management in a healthcare setting is essential. IIS experience should include working with electronic health record (EHR) systems, system optimization, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring seamless interoperability across platforms. The ability to analyze and configure complex systems to meet user needs is critical.
  • For Clinical candidates: Hands-on clinical experience (e.g., nursing, pharmacy, or allied health professions) with a deep understanding of clinical workflows and patient care processes. Candidates should have experience in utilizing EHR systems within a clinical setting and an understanding of documentation, compliance, and patient safety protocols. Clinical candidates should demonstrate the ability to bridge the gap between technical solutions and real-world clinical applications, ensuring that technology supports and enhances patient care.
  • For both IIS and Clinical candidates: Strong problem-solving skills, the ability to translate user needs into system functionality, and a collaborative mindset to work across interdisciplinary teams. Experience with process mapping, workflow redesign, and data analysis are also valuable. Both backgrounds should reflect an understanding of how to support clinical or operational improvements through technology.
  • Operational Experience in Healthcare Settings: Proven experience in healthcare operations, including a solid understanding of the day-to-day functions of clinical, administrative, or IT departments. Candidates should demonstrate experience working in environments where technology and operations intersect, whether through managing clinical workflows, optimizing system usage, or supporting operational efficiencies. The ability to use operational insights to inform system design and workflow optimization will be critical to ensuring the success of the Epic implementation.
  • Collaborative and Independent Work Abilities: Capable of working autonomously to solve problems, while also being an active contributor in cross-functional teams involving clinical staff, IT professionals, and business leaders. Able to lead discussions, build consensus, and foster teamwork in interdisciplinary settings.
  • Problem-Solving and Solution Translation: Skilled at diagnosing and resolving complex technical and workflow-related issues. Adept at interpreting clinical or business needs and translating them into efficient and practical system solutions that support healthcare delivery and operational goals.
  • Comprehensive Understanding of Healthcare Business Processes and Technology: Deep understanding of healthcare operations, with the ability to connect healthcare business needs with technology. Whether from a clinical or IIS background, demonstrates knowledge of healthcare workflows, including patient care processes, regulatory compliance, and data integrity, to optimize system performance.
  • Knowledge of Healthcare IT Solutions and Interfacing: For IIS candidates, proficiency with IT solutions, data integration, and interfacing between systems. For clinical candidates, familiarity with EHR systems and technology used in care delivery, with an emphasis on improving the user experience and patient outcomes. Experience in both areas enhances the ability to bridge gaps between clinical practice and system functionality.
